I stopped by a udon shop located on a side street of the Shimogamo shopping district. The noodles, which are boiled after ordering, are worth the wait, and their chewy texture is excellent. The chilled curry udon, infused with the aroma of dashi, combines spices and umami, and I finished it in no time. The mentaiko cream udon is creamy, yet the spiciness of the mentaiko spreads later, making me smile involuntarily. The ginger rice, tempura of chikuwa, and narazuke served as a side are great accents that keep my chopsticks moving. The homemade pudding at the end is creamy with a gentle sweetness, further enhancing my satisfaction.
