The curry nanban I ordered first was excellent, with thick flat soba noodles perfectly coated in a flavorful curry broth rich in dashi and spices. The sweetness of the soba spread gently with each bite, complemented by the tender flavor of the young chicken and long green onions. I was able to enjoy the white rice added at the end beautifully, savoring every last drop. The seasonal sansho-cut soba had a lovely faint green color, and the refreshing aroma of sansho and pleasant chewiness were impressive. It was interesting to change the way I ate it, whether by dipping only half into the broth or adding wasabi and grated daikon, each method adding depth to the experience. I had a wonderful time with everything, from the fluffy spicy cod roe omelet to the vegetable tempura, and even the soba-yu (noodle water) at the end.
