Namae Yakisoba is a thick noodle dish that is cheap and delicious, beloved since ancient times in Namie Town, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture. It is said to have been devised about 50 years ago to provide satisfying and filling meals for laborers. The dish features noodles that are about three times thicker than usual, a rich and flavorful sauce, and a simple combination of pork and bean sprouts. It is considered customary to sprinkle red pepper on top before eating.
