Daikichi: Enjoy the charm of the Showa era and delicious yakitori

Daikichi is a hidden gem of a yakitori restaurant that boasts a history of about 70 years, evoking the atmosphere of the Showa era. As you pass through the entrance curtain, you are enveloped in a homey ambiance with a counter that extends deep into the restaurant. The yakitori is plump and juicy, and the deep-fried loach and meat tofu, particularly popular among regulars, are also highly regarded. Be sure to enjoy the delicious skewers lovingly grilled by the grandmother.

I liked the atmosphere with a long counter extending deep, right next to the station. While looking at the short menu on the wall, I could slowly choose skewers. The heart (hatsu) was crunchy with green onions, and the savory flavor spread. The cheek meat (kashira) was rich in umami and juicy, with the green onions adding an accent. The chicken meatballs (tsukune) had a soft and gentle texture, while the cartilage (nankotsu) had a nice meatiness and a crunchy texture. The sour drink with plenty of plum and bottled beer paired well, making it comfortable to spend time alone.
