Daikoku mochi is a must here! We visited in front of Ibono Iori I see that it was renovated last November and is now Daikokuya Tanji! The store's introduction on their website says We have been in business since 1907. Located at the eastern end of Harima-Shingu, there used to be an inn known as "Shuku" with one of the most beautiful views on the Mimasaka Highway. The ferry was called "Ne-Shaka no Ferry" because the mountain range in front of the ferry looked like a reclining figure of Buddha. Currently, the fourth generation has taken over the business. It seems to be a very long-established store. We made a reservation for Daikoku Mochi the day before because everyone recommended it by word of mouth! When I went there after noon on the same day, it was sold out, so I recommend making a reservation! It is the size of the palm of your hand and flat! It is palm-sized, flat, and filled with moist koshian (sweet bean paste)! The filling is soft and chewy, and you can see why they are always sold out! There are many other types of sweets, such as sweets that will last for a long time, and josei-gashi (fresh sweets)! Kohaku Daifuku (red and white rice cake), including sekihan (red and white rice cake), are also available, though reservations are required! We had strawberry chocolates, and there were chairs for us to sit on! It is nice to be able to have a self-serve drink! No wonder it's so popular, with cars constantly coming and going! It is not an area I go to often, but when I do, I have to make reservations for Daifukumochi!
