A hidden gem restaurant where you can enjoy the charm of Asian cinema

Matahari Chongguanzha Suik in Rojihura is a hidden gem in Nagoya where you can enjoy a variety of Asian cuisine in a beautifully Asian-themed space. The interior, adorned with flyers of Asian films, is particularly appealing to movie lovers, allowing you to savor a unique culture alongside your meal. The delicious dishes, including Thai curry, are characterized by their authentic flavors. The curry made with coconut milk, in particular, strikes a perfect balance between a spicy kick and rich depth.

It is a shop located in an alley, featuring a beautiful space that feels warm with wood. The movie posters and records on the walls stand out, creating a unique and enjoyable atmosphere. The menu mainly focuses on Thai cuisine, offering dishes like Thai curry, pad thai, and ethnic fried chicken. The curry changes weekly, and the green curry has a pleasant creaminess and aroma from the coconut. The chicken is tender, the eggplant has a melting texture, and there are plenty of vegetables to satisfy. The ambiance is easygoing, allowing you to relax like in a café with an Asian aroma.

The atmosphere in the back alley is calm, and both the exterior and interior are very clean. Movie posters and Thai magazines are displayed, creating a fun, slightly subcultural vibe. I had the Thai curry, which had a wonderful aroma, and the creaminess of the coconut balanced well with the sharpness of the spices. The spiciness is not too strong, and it pairs perfectly with the white rice. Cilantro is served separately, making it easy to adjust for those who are not fond of it. The yuzu tea iced drink is also refreshing, allowing for a pleasant experience even after the meal.
