【Tokyo, Shōin Jinja-mae】 I revisited the best bakery near Shōin Jinja-mae Station. I wanted to try a different type than last time, so I arrived a bit earlier, around 14:30, and found about four groups waiting. A la carte ◇ Roast chicken and potato tartine I couldn't help but buy it since it used the homemade béchamel sauce that impressed me last time with the croque monsieur. As expected, this béchamel sauce is exquisite. Above all, the appearance and volume are enticing. There are plenty of potatoes, and the roast chicken is thick, making it very satisfying to eat. ◇ Cheese and homemade olive cocktail petit pain The cheese has evolved from the petit pain I enjoyed last time. ◇ Macaron marron café The Danish pastry bread I wanted to try. The volume is impressive, and as expected, the price is also high. It has a richness reminiscent of Mont Blanc, and the espresso-like powder on top allows for various flavors to be experienced in the mouth. ◇ Financier Repeating from last time. ◇ Baked su-doughnut This time, I was disappointed that the croque monsieur I was looking forward to was not available. Depending on the baking time and when customers flood in, the selection can significantly decrease, so it feels a bit like a gamble, but conversely, that adds to the excitement. I wish it were in a more accessible location, given how delicious it is.

【Tokyo, Shōin Jinja Mae】 Right in front of Shōin Jinja Mae Station on the Setagaya Line, this bakery and pastry shop was opened in 2009 by Mr. Hideo Sudō and his wife, Eriko. The couple has honed their skills at various renowned establishments and has an impressive track record. Even though there wasn't a long line past 4 PM on a holiday, there was a steady stream of customers coming in. A La Carte ◇ Ooyama Ham Croque Monsieur A dish baked with homemade béchamel sauce, generously filled with Ooyama's boneless ham and Gruyère cheese. The black pepper adds a nice kick, making it one of the top two croque monsieurs I've ever had! ◇ Saucisson A hard bread wrapped around sausage. With mustard and sautéed onions surrounding the sausage, it creates a delightful flavor that whets the appetite. ◇ Homemade Olive Cocktail Petit Bread For olive lovers, this is a treat with plenty of salted olives. Above all, the bread itself is chewy, elastic, and delicious. Although there were many sold-out items due to the late hour and a limited selection, I was very satisfied to have been able to visit! In the morning, they focus on sweet breads, and around lunchtime, they switch to savory breads like focaccia, changing the types of bread they bake according to the time of day. In other words, the shop is very popular at all times with customers having different preferences.
