This is the second restaurant, "Tetsunabe", on a trip to Hakata, my mother's hometown. It seems to be a famous restaurant, with autographs of big-name celebrities all over the walls. The dumplings are served in a crispy iron pot that could be mistaken for deep-fried dumplings, and the sauce is mixed with spices and yuzu pepper to taste. Although the restaurant is famous for its gyoza, its oden and iidako (octopus stew) are also excellent. This restaurant is a must-visit when you come to Hakata.

Now a restaurant specializing in iron pot dumplings, very popular on TV and by word of mouth! 😄 It has been popular for a long time, but recently it was recommended by Shuwa Katsumata on TV and is often seen in the media 👀. No photos are allowed inside the restaurant, but the walls are covered with celebrities' colored papers 👍. This time, I ordered 3 servings (32 pieces) of iron pot dumplings! Each gyoza is small, and according to what I heard, even women basically eat 2 servings, so I ordered 3 servings, but they were too good to eat more 😂. The combo of a hot iron pot with a bite of gyoza and a beer is the best combo ever 😋.

I had a craving for gyoza, so I visited the restaurant for dinner alone. I simply had gyoza and beer. The dumplings were brought to me hot in an iron pot. They were thick and crispy on the outside and glutinous on the inside. The bean paste was garlicky and paired well with the tangy yuzu kosho (spicy citrus pepper). It was a flavor that made the beer go down a treat.

When it comes to Hakata gyoza, it's all about the iron pan! Moreover, they are round and cooked in the Hamamatsu gyoza style! It goes well with beer.
