This is a stylish shop with a calming modern Japanese counter. The skewers grilled with binchotan charcoal are fragrant, and I was particularly impressed by the plumpness of the red chicken. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) is rich and packed with umami, warming the heart with just one bite. The flow of the course is smooth, and dishes like salad and spring rolls are carefully prepared. The clay pot rice served at the end is excellent whether enjoyed as is or with chicken broth poured over it, making it hard to put down the chopsticks. The attentive service also makes for a comfortable atmosphere, perfect for dates or meals with friends.
