Fiano di Avellino is one of Italy’s greatest white wines. Mastroberardino brought this varietal back from near extinction just a few decades ago. Planted amongst the family’s hazelnut orchards, this wine is crisp and ripe with a complex finish. This wine is also available by the glass. Cheers!

Alto Adige, a unique, mountainous region in the extreme Northeast of Italy, remains strongly influenced by an Austrian & Germanic heritage. Winemaking is clean and precise, and the varietals found here have more in common with Germany & Austria than the rest of Italy; one is just as likely to find a tasty wine from Sylvaner or Riesling, as Pinot Grigio. This crisp, dry Kerner (a genius crossing of Riesling and a red grape called Schiava) is fantastic alongside saladsm seafood or as aperitif.

Soave, stigmatized for a generation of Americans by mass produced plonk, is back! Made primarily from the Garganega grape, wines from the original heartland, or ‘Classico’ zone, produce the finest Soave; excellent whites which can be found at a fraction of the price of comparable wines from around the world. This single vineyard Soave, from the touchstone house of Pieropan, is one of Italy’s finest white wines. Fans of white burgundy and California chardonnay should give this a try- think all the texture and tastiness, but without the oak.

Spottswoode’s Sauvignon Blanc has been produced since 1984. Crafted with grapesexclusively from family-owned vineyards, this wine is fermented in a combination of French oak, small stainless steel barrels, a clay amphora, and ceramic and concrete cuves. It is a drinkable yet cellar-worthy Sauvignon that is energetic and sublime, fresh and well-integrated, with extraordinary aromas, effortless poise, and remarkable complexity.

The Planeta family has been a leader of the contemporary Sicilian movement towards quality over quantity. Five functioning wineries spread across the island permit meticulous control over a dizzying array of wines. This full bodied Fiano is harvested later and under warmer conditions than the Fiano of Avellino, endowing the wine with unbridled, ripe flavors and a luscious, round texture.

De Bartoli's 'Lucido' is made with 100% Catarratto 'Lucido' grapes; a biotype of Catarratto which provides fresher and more delicate wines compared to the common variety. The De Bartoli family not produces not only extraordinary Marsala which stand confidently amongst the world's greatest and most unique wines, but dry table wines based on indigenous varietals. A dynamite match for shellfish & seafood.

Broadly-designated estate wines don't always garner a lot of attention... unless they are made by Egon Müller! Sourced from his finest vineyards in Saarburg and Wilting vineyards, this Riesling is relatively low in alcohol with some sweetness to balance Riesling’s searing acidity. This vibrant wine is a great introduction to the fabulous wines of Egon Müller.

In Burgundy, it's all about history & family; the Drouhin family founded it's Beaune headquarters in 1880 and currently the fourth generation leads the way in both France and Oregon. A reference point producer in one of the world's greatest Chardonnay producing villages, there are few winemakers in the world who measure up. 2021 yielded approachable and delicious wines which can be enjoyed right out of the gate!

Piedmont, Italy The cooperative Produttori del Barbaresco has been producing some of Piedmont’s finest, traditionally crafted wines for over 50 years. Under the direction of current winemaker Aldo Vacca, the wines continue to improve. Their single vineyard wines are in short supply and high demand, and the iconic Barbaresco represents a vintage touchstone and one of the great values in Piedmontese wine.

Lombardy, Italy Though great wines have been made in Valtellina for generations, they exist firmly in the shadow of the more illustrious wines of Piedmont. Valtellina is one of Barolo & Barbaresco’s long lost cousins from the North, albeit tougher to find and not quite as rich & powerful. Ar. Pe Pe is one the great producers of the region. Anyone who loves Barolo & Barbaresco should check this out!

Sonoma Coast, California The talented Wells Guthrie founded Copain based on vineyard sources throughout the cooler climates of Sonoma Coast. Long before Pinot Noir and Syrah became the apple of every sommeliers’ eye, Wells staged in Burgundy and the Rhone, returning to California with his eyes on the prize. Two decades later, these wines continue Copain’s signature style of restraint and elegance wines.

Tuscany, Italy Over the past 25 years, the Italian government has provided the vineyard owners of Chianti & Chianti Classico with financial incentives & academic research which have changed the face of the region and its wines. Gone are the days of low quality wines served in straw baskets and fish bottles! Updates geared towards quality over quantity and which reward grower ambition have finally leveled notoriety with quality. This example, from an organic Tuscan estate, is medium bodied and ready to drink.

There are few people worldwide who have done as much for a specific grape varietal as Elisabetta Foradori has done for Teroldego. For this wine, whole clusters of uncrushed berries are layered in cement tanks, where they ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and no sulfur. The wine is aged for around a year in well-worn, 20-40-hectoliter botti and bottled without fining or filtration and with a small dose of sulfur. Freshness abounds in this wine which is rich in flavor & generous in color, but medium bodied and smooth on the palate.

Aglianico might be the greatest Italian grape you’ve never heard of. Thick skinned and sun loving, the grape produces full bodied, age worthy & mouth filling reds (alongside some savory, darker rosato) which pair wonderfully with steak and game. This wine aged for two years in large barrels after a generous 60 days of maceration. The vines used to make this wine are 60 years old, and are farmed organically.

Well north of Piedmont in the shadows of the Italian alps, the almost forgotten region of Boca is home to the ‘little engine that could’ estate of Le Piane. Born of historical parcels and now considered one of Piedmont’s best wines, Le Piane’s Nebbiolo based wine is blended with a touch of the Vespolina grape, which softens it’s profile and increases it’s approachability. If you like Barolo & Barbaresco, this is a wine for you!

A few miles in land from the Mendocino coast, Comptche Ridge vineyard sits in an isolated clearing in the mountains north of Navarro. Dry farmed in accordance with organic practices, this wine is aged for 15 months in French oak, of which 25% is new. Low use of SO2 contributes to a pristine profile which is elegant, aromatic and amongst our favorite lighter bodied Pinots in California.
