I went down to Nishi-Nagafuku for the first time, hoping to enjoy some delicious meat once in a while. The beef is so tender and the flavor of the meat is so delicious. The pate and rillette are great as a wine accompaniment, and the pickles and olives are a great combination. The mushroom salad was new to me, but it was delicious. The spiciness of the onions and the acidity of the olive oil went well with the rustic mushrooms. I was also surprised that the gateau chocolat was far better than those cake shops. The fresh cream sandwiched between the rich cake gave it a good break and I was able to enjoy it to the end.

Here, too, you can enjoy meat from Sakaeya, a butcher store in Shiga Prefecture, just like Fukushima, which we visited the other day. The cooking method is a simple stake fritter. The meat is cooked over high heat and the surface is crisped in oil. The flavor is locked in, and the brilliant cross section looks absolutely delicious. I learned that the owner-chef, Mr. Takashi Nakamori had studied at Antika Osteria Karuneya in Kagurazaka and Shozui in Roppongi, and I was convinced. In addition to Sakaeya's meat, I heard that #Kimura in Iwate Prefecture and #Elezo in Hokkaido are also available, so I will definitely try those next time. ▶︎ Area & Genre Search
