I got a local specialty bento at a small station where I can feel the warmth of the wood. The shiitake and bamboo shoot rice cooked in a bamboo box is rich in flavor and releases a wonderful aroma while still warm. The signature dish, sweet potato tempura 'Gane', has a crispy coating and moist filling that is exquisite, with a gentle sweetness that is irresistible. Each side dish, such as croquettes and miso dengaku, is carefully prepared, and the balance of flavors is very good. Overall, there is a subtle sweetness, and I thoroughly enjoyed the gentle taste unique to Kyushu. This bento is so satisfying that the time spent waiting for the train turns into a cherished memory.
