A renowned restaurant in the station offering fragrant black rice udon
Located within the 'Doyo no Furusato Ootone' roadside station, 'Warabe' is popular for its aromatic black rice udon. The thick and chewy udon pairs perfectly with duck broth, leaving a lasting impression with its delightful texture. The cozy interior allows you to enjoy the roasted tea aroma, and the warm dishes will warm you to the core.
Exquisite country soba ground by a watermill and warm hospitality
Yamamori is a restaurant that prides itself on its country soba, ground using traditional methods with a watermill and stone mortar. The thick and firm noodles release a sweet flavor with every bite. Additionally, you can enjoy tempura and soba-yu, making for a delicious experience.
A long-established restaurant where you can enjoy fluffy eel
Maruichi is a long-standing eel restaurant that has been beloved by our family, making us want to visit every time we feel revitalized. They use carefully selected eels from Kagoshima, and their fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture has received high praise from many eel enthusiasts. Additionally, they offer unique river fish dishes like catfish tempura, providing an opportunity to discover new flavors.

Shigezo North Kawabe Direct Sales Store specializes in a wide range of products made from tofu and deep-fried tofu. The store features several types of tofu and sweets made from soy milk, known for their freshness and deliciousness. In addition to products that highlight the natural flavors of tofu, a selection of local vegetables and bread is also available. It's an appealing local shop that you'll want to visit regularly.
A cozy haven where kaiseki and Chinese cuisine merge
Kappo Katayama is a unique restaurant where you can enjoy both kaiseki cuisine and authentic Chinese dishes. The eel sourced from a local fish farm has a fluffy texture, perfectly complemented by a refined sweet sauce. On the other hand, the Sichuan-style dan dan noodles and mapo tofu are also exquisite, with the dishes infused with the aroma of Sichuan pepper and sesame paste being particularly recommended. With a homey atmosphere and over 100 years of history cherished by the community, this establishment offers new discoveries with every visit.
This place specializes in takeout river fish, and you order at the counter. They prepare and grill the fish on the spot, so it's nice to receive it fresh. The grilled eel has a fluffy texture, and the sauce is light with a refreshing aftertaste, accompanied by sansho pepper and a clear soup. The clear soup contains wheat gluten and mitsuba, and the yuzu aroma is refreshing. The sliced carp has a good texture, and the accompanying vinegar miso pairs well. They also offer simmered carp, simmered moroko, and boiled small fish, and my favorite is the tenderly prepared simmered moroko.
