It is a Shishi-nabe with the scent of sansho (Japanese pepper). This springtime one-pot dish is different from botan nabe in taste. The combination of the umami of grilled shishi-on meat and sansho (Japanese pepper) makes this nabe a refreshing dish. The soba noodles can be eaten as zarusoba or dipped in the nabe. Tororo (yam) rice with Tanba Sasayama's specialty, mountain yam, is another Sasayama dish.
