A seafood izakaya with carefully selected ingredients and a rich variety of sake

Tami-an is an izakaya located just a 3-minute walk from Sannomiya Station, where you can enjoy seafood dishes and sake. The dishes made with fresh seafood, showcasing the owner's dedication, are exquisite and bring out the maximum flavor of the ingredients. Additionally, the dishes featuring Satsuma jidori, one of Japan's three major native chickens, and the charcoal-grilled items cooked slowly on a shichirin are also exceptional.

The restaurant has a tatami room and other seating areas, but the seating area seemed to be underutilized. The three dishes that came with the meal (sesame tofu, stewed chicken, and spicy shellfish and mushrooms) were all delicious and raised expectations for the dishes to follow. The chicken tataki was a thick slice of chicken, a little tough in texture but with a rich chicken flavor, and was served with yuzu kosho (Japanese citrus pepper). The homemade thick fried bean curd was served with several small square thick fried bean curds, the inside of which was silken tofu and very soft and tasty. The bonito straw-fried was grilled thoroughly and served with ponzu (Japanese sauce made from ponzu citrus juice), although I personally prefer it a bit more raw. The fried and soaked Manganji chili peppers are deliciously bittersweet, and the broth is not too sweet or spicy for my liking. There is a wide selection of sake, served by the glass and mass, so there is a good assortment. With a diverse menu, I would like to visit again.
