Izakaya Osamu

Izakaya Osamu is a restaurant in Hamada where you can taste local cuisine unique to Hamada. The 'simmered mackerel hot pot' we ordered is made by adding a broth-like sauce and fresh wakame seaweed to an iron pot, creating a sukiyaki-style dish with mackerel. It was surprising to see how well seafood can be cooked in sukiyaki with ingredients such as mackerel fillets, puffer fish sperm, turban shell, konjac, tofu, and onions. To finish, the Osamu-style is to add udon noodles and green onions to the broth full of umami, and then top it off with a beaten egg. We were impressed with the delicious food and the nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere of the restaurant, making it a perfect place to enjoy a leisurely dinner.
