The name 'Dassai' is written with the characters for 'otter' and 'festival'. It is a local sake that is shipped from Asahi Shuzo in Shuto Town, Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and has become quite popular among sake enthusiasts across Japan. Otters have a habit of lining up the fish they catch on the shore, which makes it look like they are having a festival. The term 'Dassai' also refers to the act of scattering books and materials, similar to the way one spreads out many resources when creating poetry or literature.
