A representative okonomiyaki restaurant in Abashiri

When it comes to okonomiyaki in Abashiri, Hatten Sho is the place. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, providing a comfortable space that is suitable for couples or solo diners. The okonomiyaki made by the chef is delicious, and the visually appealing Ryuhyo-yaki, an original menu item, is particularly enticing. The friendly demeanor of the owner's wife adds to the charm, making it a truly wonderful dining establishment.

It's a small shop. The signboard's hokke burger features a patty made from coarsely chopped grilled hokke, giving it a healthy feel. The okonomiyaki is cooked in the shop before being served, and it looks quite unique. The way the mayonnaise is applied is distinctive, with pickled ginger on top. The portion size is substantial, and one piece is satisfying. It's also enjoyable to watch the skillful cooking on the griddle, and you can't help but want to order the squid tentacles as well.

There are plenty of ocean motifs, and the whale decoration at the counter is delightful. The wooden figure at the entrance is rich in character and draws your attention. Watching the food being skillfully grilled right in front of you is a pleasant experience. The fluffy okonomiyaki includes a modern version with noodles, and the ingredients are well combined. The familiar aroma of Otafuku sauce spreads, and it pairs perfectly with beer. The grilled squid has a beautiful char and a nice chewiness, and the warm hospitality of the couple is comforting.
