Founded in 1957, this long-established restaurant has supported the roast meat culture of Hong Kong. With over 20 processes involved, the skin is thin and fragrant, while the meat is moist and perfectly cooked. This renowned establishment has maintained a Michelin one-star rating for nearly 10 years with its 'Roast Goose'. The shop, located along a slope in Central, has a simple appearance that blends into the hustle and bustle of the city. The roast goose hanging behind the glass serves as a landmark, and as you walk down the street, the aroma of charcoal mixed with fat wafts through the air. The interior is small, and sharing tables is the norm. Covered with pink menu paper on one wall, the sounds of roasting and steam from the kitchen create a warm atmosphere typical of a dining hall. This time, I visited to try the roast goose. I ordered it with a side of white rice. The skin crackles and bursts, the meat has a deep sweetness from the fat, and adding a bit of plum sauce enhances the flavor with a touch of acidity. Despite its local appearance, the prices are a bit on the higher side. However, the sense of satisfaction after finishing the meal lingers strongly. This is a place to go specifically for 'this dish', not just a stop during sightseeing. If you want to savor roast goose in Hong Kong, you can't go wrong choosing this place.
