Papa Jon's is owned by Charles Rosée, a native of New York City who hitchhiked around the world at the age of 21, ending up in Spain, India, and Japan. 1978 he visited Japan again and settled in Kyoto, Japan. 1985 he opened Knuckles Cafe, and in 1990 he opened Papa John's Cafe opened in 1990.
