At the counter where the fragrant aroma of charcoal drifts, I first bit into a grilled rice ball, and the melting butter brought me happiness. Next came the tsukune, which had a nice char on the outside, and the juices burst out from the inside, making me smile involuntarily. Both the sauce-coated version, which is enjoyed with a raw egg yolk, and the simple type seasoned with Amakusa salt were equally appealing. The cheese tsukune, generously topped with cheese, was rich like fondue and perfect as a snack. The straw-grilled bonito had a wonderful aroma, and the perfect level of searing spread a fragrant smoke in my mouth, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. Finally, finishing with a sharp and spicy dipping soba made for a satisfying and enjoyable time from appetizer to dessert.
