Tonkatsu Highlighting the Flavor of Hirabuki San-Gentatsu and a Variety of Umeshu

Opened in 1998 near Tobu Utsunomiya Station, Pakapaka is renowned for its tonkatsu that fully utilizes the qualities of the brand pork, Hirabuki San-Gentatsu, as well as its dashi shabu-shabu. The juicy and tender meat becomes even sweeter and richer when enjoyed with salt or wasabi soy sauce. One of the highlights is the opportunity to sample over 40 different types of umeshu available at all times.

The roast cutlet is made from Hiraboku Sangen pork, and with each bite, the sweetness of the fat and the richness of the lean meat spread out. The center is slightly pink, very tender, and the more you chew, the more flavor it releases. First, enjoy it as is, then with salt, and also with raw soy sauce, wasabi, or mustard. The miso cutlet and minced cutlet are also impressively delicious. It comes with rice and miso soup, all of which are tasty. There is also a reservation-only dashi shabu-shabu and self-service zosui, which made me feel happy until the very end.
