Traditional Yudofu in Saga
Seizansoudou is a yudofu specialty restaurant located within the grounds of Tenryuji Temple in Arashiyama. Established shortly after World War II, its historic Japanese architecture and garden captivate visitors. The yudofu features the rich sweetness of tofu and the deep flavor of dashi, with each dish prepared with care. It's a place where you can fully enjoy the seasonal beauty and charm of Saga, Kyoto.

It is said to have originally been a Zen temple building, and the atmosphere of the shop overlooking the garden from the engawa (veranda) is simply the best. The menu consists only of a yudofu (hot tofu) set meal, but a series of carefully prepared vegetarian dishes such as appetizers and tempura are served, delighting both the eyes and the palate. The main dish, yudofu, is perfectly tender and delicious, showcasing the quality of a long-established restaurant (my daughter, who usually doesn't prefer tofu, was surprised at how good it was). The hospitality, which is neither overly formal nor too casual, was impeccable, allowing us to spend a truly special time.

The hospitality, the appearance, and the garden were very nice. The yudofu, of course, was delicious, but so were the other dishes, especially the fried yam and the ganmodoki with lily bulb and ginkgo nuts. The gentle flavors typical of Kyoto soaked into my tired body and stomach during the trip. Minus 0.1 would be the fact that only cash was handled. I wish electronic money could be used, as cash can run out before you know it during a trip. I would have liked to have been able to use electronic money systems,

In the midst of the tourist crowd in Arashiyama, which is in a state of overtourism, you can enjoy delicious tofu from Morika in an unbelievably quiet atmosphere. The casual dining experience, rather than the stiff feeling of expensive Kyoto cuisine, is also delightful. Writing something like this might attract too many visitors, which would be troublesome. Nevertheless, I am grateful that the shop has been preserved to maintain the memories of my visit about 40 years ago.

I didn't know how to read it, so I looked it up. lol I'm a small eater, so the yudofu course looked like it would be good for me in terms of quantity, so I made a reservation and went there.
I had a stomach ache just before arriving at the restaurant, so I came to the restaurant feeling ill. ...... The staff who greeted us were very nice and were very willing to accommodate us when we told them we wanted only the yudofu instead of the course.
I enjoyed only the yudofu while my companion enjoyed the delicious course meal.
The restaurant staff were all very kind, and we were able to spend a relaxing time looking at the garden. I would like to visit again when I have a chance.

I love their yudofu and was looking forward to this visit, but the reservation site doesn't make sense.
I wanted to go there for lunch on the 7th, but as of noon the day before, the reservation had not been completed.
I booked a table at another restaurant because the cherry blossoms were in full bloom on Sunday the 7th. I will never use this site again.
