Located near Nagoya Station, "Ichibiki" is a famous restaurant serving hittu-mabushi, a typical Nagoya delicacy. The restaurant is so popular that there is a huge line at lunch time, especially for its popular "Tokujo-Don" (extra large bowl of rice topped with eel), which is a hearty dish with a fluffy eel texture and a rich sauce flavor. The restaurant was established in 1939 and was named by the previous proprietress who had served Ichibiki in the past.

Very popular eel restaurant! It was too popular to eat, but I got a numbered ticket and went there! When I went to the front of the restaurant, there was smoke coming out of the ventilation fan and the smell of delicious eels was wafting around the area, which whetted my appetite. As soon as we entered the restaurant, a craftsman was grilling eels on the left side of the room, flapping his hands and looking up. The smoke filled the restaurant and it was very smoky! WOW! Eel bowl (extra high quality rice bowl) with liver soup: 4,300 yen Eel and rice bowl with liver (3,500 yen) Drink beer and wait! After a while, it appeared! The bowl of rice is heaped with a mountain of eel.......! The eel meat is very thick and tender! (I forgot to take a picture of the cross section, but it was really thick!) The fat was a little too much, so when I asked for wasabi (50 yen), I got a heap of wasabi (50 yen). Excellent food! I want to eat it again! I was planning to eat at "Ichibiki" when I visited Nagoya! Everyone says it's cheap and very tasty! We arrived at Nagoya Station on the Shinkansen before 10:00 a.m.! We headed for the restaurant immediately! The nearest station is Kokusai Center Subway Station, about a 10-minute walk south. I walked directly to the restaurant. Walking distance is enough! I found it: ！！！！ I came to Ichibiki, which I had longed for! Numbered tickets for the day are distributed from 10am! When I entered the store, it was dark because the shop was not open yet... The staff gave me a number slip and told me to come at 11:30 a.m. I took the number 12 ticket and went to a nearby restaurant to have a morning breakfast. When I came back at 11:20, people who were told to come at 11:30 were gathering. At the opening time, we are let through in the order in which we were given the tags. You will be asked for your order in that order, so you will have to wait for a while even after you are seated. Inside the restaurant, there are tables and a small tatami room. The most popular dish is the tokkagami-don (extra large bowl of rice topped with eel). The top is, of course, sandwiched between two pieces of rice. I was scared to order the top bowl because I was told that it was quite hearty! It must have been about 50 minutes after I placed my order. The service is also by order of the number, so if you are at the end of the first order, you will have to wait for quite a while! The second order is starting to come through! Top bowl: 3,000 yen Aromatic eel on top of a bowl of rice! The aroma is so good~ I can't get enough of this aroma! The sauce is already on the top, so you can eat it as it is. The surface is crispy! The surface is crispy and the fat is so thick that when you hold it with chopsticks, you can feel it fall apart like this! What is this? It's so delicious! If it had this much fat on it, I would get sick of it towards the end, but that's not the case at all, and I can eat it all the way through! The sauce is also minimal! So you can enjoy the eel directly! Eating eel without thinking... No wonder this is so popular! The liver soup is light, and there is also a spice dish as if to pour off the fat of the eel. I might have had the extra bowl of rice if I had it this way! Because if it's only 800 yen difference, it's a better deal! On that day, the second order was sold out of the extra large bowl!
