The yakiniku restaurant I visited with my friends had both a counter and sunken kotatsu seating, making it very comfortable. When the 'XX Ichi' series that I had reserved the day before was laid out on the table, everyone gasped at the visual impact. In particular, the beef tongue was perfectly tender with a soft red meat and the richness of the egg yolk, making it an unbeatable combination that made it hard to put down my chopsticks. The thickly sliced tongue was crispy to bite into yet juicy, and with each grilling, the smoke tasted delicious. When I quickly seared the beautifully shaped liver, resembling yokan, and dipped it in sesame oil, its richness was greatly enhanced. The final dish, oyster clay pot rice, combined the flavors of the sea and meat, making it a dish we could all share in happiness.
