Misuzu Ame is a dried jelly confection with a 100-year history from Nagano Prefecture. It is made by adding agar, granulated sugar, and corn syrup to six types of fully ripened domestic fruit juice to create a jelly. The surface is coated with an edible film made from starch called oblaten, enhancing its shelf life through the concentration from drying. The texture is similar to the traditional Niigata confection called Ojisan Ame, with a rich jam-like flavor. The fruit ingredients are all domestically grown fully ripened fruits harvested at their peak of deliciousness and fragrance. No additives are used, and it is free from artificial colors and flavors. The production method has remained largely unchanged for almost 100 years since the end of the Meiji era, with each piece being handmade in the traditional way. Upholding the belief in delivering genuine deliciousness and peace of mind through the warmth of human hands, the production process focuses on meticulous craftsmanship rather than mass production by machines.
Handmade jam made by carefully harvesting fully ripened domestic fruits from each season and bottling them with freshness in mind. It has a rich aroma and a distinct taste that only fully ripened fruits possess. Each bottle is filled with the flavors created by nature. We are particular about the varieties, origins, and cultivation methods used. We use only carefully selected fully ripened domestic fruits as ingredients and handcraft each batch. Please enjoy the true flavor of jam.
This is a popular limited edition product for the winter season. It is a gift that will be appreciated. It is made by hollowing out carefully selected Sanpokan oranges from Wakayama Prefecture to create a container made of the peel, into which freshly squeezed Sanpokan orange juice jelly is poured. The use of the beautiful peel of the Sanpokan orange as a container for dishes such as namasu at celebratory banquets has been a tradition in this area since ancient times. We have infused our passion for making fruit juice jelly into this culture, giving birth to the Sanpokan Fukugo-bukuro. For the past forty years, it has been well received as a winter sweet representing the Iijima Shoten. Only freshly picked Sanpokan oranges are used, capturing the changing flavors of the Sanpokan orange juice (from the refreshing and fresh taste at the beginning of the season to the rich and flavorful taste towards the end of the season) and the color of the peel (from yellow-green to yellow), allowing you to enjoy the seasonal feeling. Please note that the manufacturing process, from hollowing out to filling, is almost entirely done by hand, so there is a limited production quantity. We appreciate reservations and early orders.
