A heartwarming, homestyle diner in Nishi-Shinjuku

Located in Nishi-Shinjuku, this izakaya has a homely atmosphere. The newly renovated interior is cozy and has a unique charm that invites relaxation. The boiled tongue, especially popular among patrons, is exquisite; the tender, simmered beef tongue pairs perfectly with the special broth, evoking the taste of home-cooked meals. With a diverse menu, it's a delightful place where you can discover new deliciousness with every visit.

Upon entering a retro-style shop located on a back street, I was immediately guided to a counter seat after parting the noren with my hand. The first floor is cozy, but from the second floor, cheerful voices can be heard, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The boiled tongue set meal I ordered is simmered slowly in a secret broth, and it is so tender that it falls apart with just a touch of chopsticks. When I add a little yuzu pepper and wasabi to the gently salty tongue, the flavor changes dramatically, and I find myself eating more and more rice. Hidden among the dish are crisp lettuce and chopped green onions, and when I scoop them up, the difference in texture is delightful. As I serve myself miso soup and a raw egg while listening to the warm interactions between regulars and the staff, I felt that this was a comforting diner.

When you enter the shop, you feel relaxed in the friendly atmosphere. The specialty boiled tongue is simmered in soup and is surprisingly tender. Adding a little wasabi or yuzu pepper to the gentle salty flavor changes the taste significantly and makes it enjoyable. The crisp texture of the lettuce adds an accent, and the rice keeps going down easily. You can freely combine raw eggs and small plates of pickled mustard greens, allowing you to find your preferred way to eat. Both the counter and tables are comfortable, making it a wonderful place to spend a leisurely lunch time.
