A Counter Surrounded by the Aroma of Charcoal Grilling, Run by a Single Chef

This small izakaya, located in the bustling streets of Kitami, features only a counter. The warm personality of the chef creates a cozy atmosphere, and the simple yet flavorful dishes, such as scallops grilled over charcoal, skewers, and fresh sashimi, are highly praised. The interior, enveloped in the fragrant smoke rising from the grill, retains the charm of a traditional tavern, making it irresistibly appealing to those who fall in love with it.

It is a small counter-only shop located in the bustling streets of Kitami, but the moment you open the door, a comforting atmosphere flows in. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to, and even while managing everything alone, he kindly engages with each customer. On the grill, scallops, oysters, skewers, and salt-grilled fish are beautifully arranged, making you excited just by looking at them. The boiled egg and shrimp served as an appetizer surprisingly pair well, raising my spirits from the very first bite. The dash-maki (rolled omelet) and sashimi are cooked and sliced with care, allowing the umami to be fully appreciated, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. The rich, amber-hued scenery of the smoke-filled interior and the relaxed interactions among regulars create a pleasant atmosphere, causing me to linger longer than intended.
