You can enjoy a course of "Koumon Ryori," a modern arrangement and restoration of the ingredients and dishes that the long-lived Mito Komon ate at the time of his death. The name of the restaurant 'Gotei Mukyoan' is derived from the military chicken hot pot restaurant 'Gotei' that appears in Shotaro Ikenami's historical novel 'Onihei Hankacho'. Many may have longed for the military chicken hot pot that the protagonist Onihei relished.
One of Japan's three major native chickens, the 'Okukuji Shamo'. Raised in the lush mountainous region of Okukuji in the northern part of the prefecture, its meat is rich in nutrients and has an unparalleled quality that has captivated many food enthusiasts. Our main offerings are Shamo dishes, and among them, the 'Shamo Hot Pot' and 'Oyakodon' are popular menu items since our establishment, and they are must-try delicacies.
The unique aged flavor of the Okukuji gamecock and the wonderful texture of its meat are secrets rooted in its breeding method. The gamecocks, raised in a chicken coop surrounded by the rich nature of Okukuji, are nurtured with pure water and a specially formulated feed. After being raised for about three times longer than regular chickens, over 120 days, they are delivered to our kitchen.
