A sweet potato shochu representing Miyazaki Prefecture. It may be the most famous shochu! First released in 1916 by the founder of Kirishima Distillery, this shochu is made with 'black koji' fermentation. The history of Kirishima Distillery began with black koji shochu. The richness produced by black koji is characterized by a smooth sweetness and a crisp finish.
Named 'Akakirishima' because the koji turns bright red by using the mythical sweet potato 'Murasakimasari'.
