A Uji tea café offering an authentic matcha experience

Kouroan Chaho is an authentic Uji tea café located near Daitoku-ji, where you can enjoy a wide variety of Japanese teas, from freshly ground matcha to home-grown gyokuro. Using carefully selected tea leaves, the café also offers an experience where customers can prepare their own tea, allowing for a deep appreciation of Japanese tea culture. You can spend a luxurious time in the tranquil atmosphere of the tea room.

This store is located near Daitokuji Temple, and the good smell of tea wafts in from the entrance, giving you a sense of comfort. Matcha (powdered green tea) is available here, and you can enjoy two kinds of tea. You will be taught how to heat an iron kettle and roast the tea, so you can enjoy the pleasure of roasting the tea yourself. In addition, the sliding doors are decorated with works by famous artists, and you can relax in this store after your visit.
