Shokujidokoro Shimabara

At 'Shokujidokoro Shimabara', you can enjoy a variety of dishes that make use of fresh local seafood and seasonal ingredients, such as sashimi platter, Hamada's red tempura, fluffy stir-fried bok choy, deep-fried chikuwa with potato salad, the landlady's minced cutlet, and pork kimchi. In particular, the 'landlady's minced cutlet' is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a perfect texture of flavorful minced meat and sweet onions.

The interior has counter seats and tatami seating, accommodating up to about 25 people. It has a homely atmosphere managed by the head chef and the proprietress working together, creating a warm space where local regulars and tourists can easily drop by. It features a traditional izakaya-like appearance that blends into the quiet streets of Kaike Onsen.

"Shokujidokoro Shimabara" is a long-established Japanese restaurant that has walked alongside the history of Kaike Onsen. Using fresh ingredients sourced locally, the carefully handmade dishes continue to be loved by both locals and tourists. Along with warm hospitality, it offers memorable flavors.
