A fashionable yakitori restaurant in Azabu Juban, open until 5 a.m. and popular on Retty, Gagei is a stylish yakitori restaurant in a hideaway.
A client of ours entertained us for a round of golf, and when we received a request for yakitori for our post-golf review meeting, we chose this restaurant for the stylish trading company employee with a discerning palate.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of chicken and fish sashimi, as well as seasonal a la carte dishes, and although the prices start at 350 yen per skewer, the service is just right, making it a relaxed restaurant where anyone can feel at ease.
The restaurant has a black interior with dimmed lighting, table lights at the counter to illuminate the food, and table seating and private rooms ranging from a room for two to a spacious private room for up to 10 people, making it easy to use for a wide range of purposes.
This time, four of us used the counter corner for a relaxed get-together after a round of golf, respecting a moderate sense of distance.
We always order chicken liver sashimi, tsukune and bonbochi (bonjiri).
The side dish is ume crystal. I like this dish with tobiko on top for even more texture.
Rare beef meatballs are also delicious.
And the chicken ham.
The watercress garnish blends beautifully with the fat.
There is a wide selection of sake, including rare brands, wine, whiskey, and of course shochu, and it is nice to be able to choose your own beverage.
Reservations are always hard to come by, but we recommend this restaurant for light entertainment or date night.
Mantoku is a long-established chicken restaurant located in front of Roppongi Midtown.
It had been about 20 years since my last visit. The menu remains the same, with delicious grilled chicken, seasonal dishes, and chicken sashimi, but the concept seems to have changed to a more casual style, and the restaurant is now crowded with customers for banquets.
The restaurant has a high-class appearance and atmosphere, and we would like to use it for a drinking party next time.
