Hanabuki is a hidden izakaya nestled in the quiet highlands of Yatsugatake. Upon entering, you are greeted by a calm atmosphere filled with the warmth of wood. From the signature robatayaki to fresh sashimi, every dish is generous in portion and rich in flavor, captivating all who visit. With large platters to enjoy and warm hospitality that leaves a lasting impression, it's a place you'll want to return to.
The warm interior of the shop, which has been relocated from an old traditional house, features a wood stove, and I felt a sense of relief the moment I entered. At Yatsugatake Gohan, you can choose between multigrain rice or white rice, and a variety of seasonal small dishes are lined up, providing a satisfying meal even though it is vegetable-centered. The kakiage tempura soba comes with three large pieces of kakiage filled with sweet sweet potatoes, and the cooking of the soba was exquisite. The tempura of flower beans, which I tasted for the first time, had a subtle sweetness and a crispy batter that was delightful, almost like a warm Japanese sweet. The view from the window was also pleasant, and I could feel that it is a beloved shop as locals kept coming in. With gentle seasoning and the cheerful service from the staff, I was able to enjoy a wonderful time relaxing in between my travels.
