The medicinal dishes using herbs were a feast for the eyes and palate, as well as the dishes' containers. Tempura of mint and dokudami leaves was a first for me.
I had a set of handmade soba noodles and tempura. There was a salad of dried daikon and peas with scrambled eggs. Everything had a gentle flavor and was excellent. I felt warm from the personalities of the husband and wife who run the shop. I will definitely return. The old house is indeed soothing.

I previously stopped by and liked it so much that I came back. The dishes made with plenty of vegetables were very delicious. They were voluminous and beautifully colorful, which was exciting just to look at. Each plate was different and cute, adorned with flowers, allowing me to enjoy a wonderful time while taking in the scenery. I will visit again!

You can enjoy a relaxing meal in the spacious restaurant. There are also terrace seats and sunken hearth seats. The menu offers vegetarian dishes full of flavor and soba noodles with different tastes. Reservations are required for all lunch courses, but with a last-minute reservation, I was able to reserve the second course, which I was aiming for. The dishes were served after fried soba noodles and roasted tea, and sake was also enjoyed. I also recommend the seasonal boxed sushi and tempura. Next time, I would like to revisit this restaurant during the season of fresh soba noodles.

A hidden gem for handmade soba
Hagino is located in a secluded area near the Soni Highlands and is beloved by locals for its handmade soba. The flavorful soba is especially delightful when enjoyed with 'soba-yu' (soba water), and the seasonal fresh tempura is also popular. The dishes, simple yet crafted with care, captivate visitors. With its charming location and commitment to quality ingredients, this restaurant attracts many soba enthusiasts and is definitely worth a visit.
This comfortable restaurant is located in a traditional house in the mountain village, just a short walk from the station. The soft light that filters through the wooden beams and old glass windows creates a relaxed atmosphere. The chef's choice course is filled with local blessings such as traditional vegetables from Nara, deer, and Yamato pork, allowing you to experience the seasons in each dish. I was excited by the unique combinations, such as the deep broth made from deer ribs and the udon made with Yoshino kudzu, which can only be tasted here. The flavors were delicate yet powerful, and I couldn't put down my chopsticks until the last dessert. The warm hospitality from the staff also made for a pleasant experience, resulting in a delightful dining experience where the mountains and the world intersect.

In a warm and inviting atmosphere of the diner, you feel relaxed the moment you step in. The grilled chicken set meal is fun because you can choose the parts. You can mix and match young chicken, old chicken, and neck meat according to your preference. The miso sauce can be chosen as red or blended, and it is not overwhelming, has depth, and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. The portion of rice is substantial, making you want to keep eating. The fried chicken looks big and delicious, and the small treat after the meal is a nice touch.

It has been a long time since I visited Hinoki. As usual, the food is still carefully and beautifully presented. The variety of sushi items seems to have changed a bit. The nigirizushi is bite-sized and easy to eat, and the salads and red miso soup are abundant and delicious. The Tororo Soba noodles also included okra, which had a delicious sticky texture. The homemade desserts were especially delicious and left us wanting more.
