Returning to Hakushu after eight years was nothing short of magical. The first time I visited, I was with my family; this time, I came with my girlfriend — and to my delight, the experience was just as unforgettable as I remembered. This family-run restaurant has an incredibly warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home the moment you step inside. The staff’s kindness and attentiveness are truly outstanding — they go above and beyond to make sure every guest feels cared for, without ever being intrusive. As for the food: simply exceptional. We had both the fillet and the sirloin, and each cut was absolutely sublime — tender, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection right in front of us. We also tried the chicken liver, which was rich, delicate, and beautifully prepared — a true hidden gem of the menu. Every bite was a reminder of the craftsmanship and love that go into every dish at this restaurant. One of the most touching parts of the evening was seeing the family again, especially the lady who is such an iconic presence of Hakushu — it was wonderful to find her in great shape, still welcoming guests with her heartwarming smile and energy. What moved me the most was how nothing had changed over the years: the heartfelt hospitality, the cozy family feel, and the absolutely divine food. Hakushu is not just a meal; it's a memory you’ll carry with you long after you leave. This is a very small family restaurant with a bar and 2 tables with room for 6. We were placed at the bar. The teppanyaki is made right in front of you, we had the pleasure of having the oldest cook (the Grandmother of 85 years). Wonderful food. Just a note, the place is hard to find. It's in a back street and the sliding door just happened to say closed on it.

As you know, the quality of Kobe beef is top-notch. It tastes like Hanwoo chuck flap. The owner, despite being elderly, personally cooks, giving it the feel of eating in a Japanese home. Everyone is very kind. However, the location is a bit ambiguous, so those departing from Shibuya Station should plan accordingly. The ups and downs of the unfamiliar route make it difficult to navigate the overpass. Reservations for one person are also possible.

The staff, food and ambience was what made the experience in Hakushu a memorable one. The price of the food is affordable and the taste of the beef is truly unforgettable. The ambience and also the staff are also very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend if you are here for some affordable and quality beef
