I stopped by the onigiri corner I found at Hakata Station's Ippin Street. The onigiri, topped with mackerel, looks exciting just from its appearance. Taking a bite, the deliciousness of the mackerel and the moderate spiciness of the mentaiko blend together, with a gentle aroma of shiso spreading out. The ingredients are plentiful and the portion is substantial, but the refined seasoning keeps it interesting until the last bite. There is also a variety of bento boxes and jars of mentaiko seaweed lined up, which I felt would be perfect as souvenirs for my family. Eating it while traveling on the Shinkansen felt like a little luxury and was a perfect way to conclude my trip.
