We went to Nagasaka Sarashina Nunoya Tahei, the head family of three Sarashina-style buckwheat noodle restaurants in Azabu Juban, which has been in business for 220 years. The main family is famous for "Gozensoba," a white buckwheat noodle made by grinding only the core of the buckwheat, which was presented to the Tokugawa family and the ladies' chambers of the Tokugawa shogunate. The dignity of the store's structure tells of its history and the original family. You can choose your favorite blend of sweet and spicy pickle soup. This time, I ordered the Tenju Soba set. The soba noodles were white. I also wanted to try Nihachi Soba. It is thinly sliced, but it has a nice aroma. There is also Jyuwari Soba, and choosing one is one of the pleasures. The soba water is strong and tastes good without soup. The prawns in the Tenjyu (tempura-stacked) dish are not only large but also oversized, with two extra-large prawns that overhang the bowl. Crab legs, eggplant, shiitake mushrooms, and shishito peppers are also served on top, and the sweet and spicy sauce is exquisite. I would have loved to add more rice. Other than the food, the tea is worth mentioning. It is highly aromatic, which makes you wonder if it is free. The service is also traditional and expensive, but every time I go to this restaurant, I feel the history of food and am moved by the fact that I was born in Japan.

Nunoya Taibei" is the oldest and most dignified of the three major sarafinis in Azabu-Juban. I went there as soon as I saw Maiko Wakaume's post about their winter-only Curry Nanban. I have never had such a delicious curry nanban before. The harmony of the curry sauce, leeks, and chicken was so wonderful that I drank all of the broth. We had a choice of pork, chicken, or shrimp, and we selected the chicken. The amount of leeks and chicken were cooked together, and the seasoning was superb. The leek and shichimi (seven spice flavors) were sprinkled lightly on the chicken. I was impressed by the taste of the shichimi. The aroma of roasted black sesame and yuzu spread on the tongue and nose. The Soba Shochu with Sobayu was served with sashimi konnyaku with plum buds and Soba Tofu Salad with lots of ingredients. We are glad that we can order from a single serving. Large asparagus, crab legs, tomatoes, wakabu, purple radish, potherb mustard, and soba tofu. The tofu has the aroma of buckwheat noodles and elasticity. It is a must-try dish. The green tea is always impressive. It has a deep taste that is more than just a palate cleanser after a meal. It is so deep in flavor that it makes you feel sorry for the free service. A pleasant restaurant that keeps its distance from the service and attentiveness of the women. I was reminded again that this is a great soba restaurant after all. The restaurant serves not only the pure white Sarashina and Jyuwari Soba, which were presented to the ladies of the Imperial Palace, but also the Curry Nanban in the winter time.

Nunoya Taibei" is a leading buckwheat noodle shop in the Azabu Juban shopping arcade, and the Sarashina Sohonke, with its stately storefront and dignity. The specialty is the beautiful, pure white gozen-soba, which is made from buckwheat that was presented to the ladies' chambers of the Imperial Family. The restaurant has a spacious and luxurious atmosphere, but you will be comforted by a nice lady dressed in a stylish kimono who looks after the floor and whom you would like to call your mother. The dashimaki tamago (rolled egg) is a must-try. The spicy daikon with the aroma of mirin (sweet cooking rice wine) and the egg with soy sauce are in exquisite harmony. And then there is the classic "Ita Wasa". The way the knife is cut is superb. Soba soup is a blend of ama-jiru and kara-jiru to your liking. The soba noodles are made of 10% zaru (buckwheat noodles), which have a refined aroma and a graceful edge. You can eat a piece of soba without adding anything to it. It is also recommended for a leisurely and luxurious dinner with your friends, thinking back to the days when soba noodles were presented to the ladies' chambers of the Imperial Palace.

After catching a cold, I decided to visit "Nunoya Taibei," the headquarter of Sarashina Soba Restaurant, on my way home from the hospital to have my favorite buckwheat noodles to cheer me up. I ordered "Tsujimizusoba," a type of long-established buckwheat noodle. I enjoyed the fluffy and beautiful egg for a while, and then enjoyed the cleanness of only three leaves, kamaboko and nori (seaweed), and the multi-layered aroma that I could recognize even if I caught a cold. The tea here is also excellent. The biggest difference between Juban Sarashina and the other two restaurants is the tea. Both the temperature and the aroma are superb. It is something you have to pay for. I was reminded once again that this is a great restaurant.

Founded 200 years ago, "Nunoya Tahei" is the pinnacle of Sarashina in Azabu-Juban. This is a long-established high-class restaurant that used to offer Gozen Soba to the ladies' chambers of the Imperial Palace. Sometimes we are asked which of the three Juban Sarashina restaurants is the best, but we think that the three restaurants are completely different from each other. Personally, if I were to compare them to Japanese food, Taibei here is a ryotei restaurant, Nagasaka Sarashina is a kappo restaurant, and Horii is an izakaya (Japanese-style bar). Each of the three restaurants has its own charm, but if you are looking for elegant luxury with a sense of history, this is the place for you. Weekday lunch includes tendon, soba, sesame tofu, and soba manju (buckwheat bun) for ³,900. The tempura bowl is delicious, and the soba noodles are surprisingly thick with wakabu. The Soba Manju is a bargain at ¥340 per piece. Next time, I would like to go for Okame Soba to fully enjoy the wakanafu. We hope you will visit us to taste their luxurious Soba.

Nunoya Tahei" is the pride of Azabu Juban's long-established soba restaurant, which has been in business for 200 years and used to serve soba to the Ooku (the ladies' chambers). We highly recommend the Tenju lunch for those who can go for lunch on weekdays. You will not know that this menu is available until you enter the restaurant. The price is ¥4,000 for the tenju, soba, soba tofu, and soba manju (buckwheat bun) as individual items, but for weekday lunch, the price is only ¥1995. It is expensive for lunch, but this is a great price for a famous restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and the tea is excellent. It is recommended for a relaxing weekday lunch.

The restaurant is famous for its pure white, crystal-clear Gozensoba made only from the core of the buckwheat that was offered to the ladies of the Imperial Palace, but all of its buckwheat noodles are exceptionally delicious. On weekdays, the restaurant offers a lunch set that cannot be seen from the outside. The set includes the famous soba, tendon, sesame tofu, and soba manju (buckwheat bun), and is reasonably priced at ³,000. And this tea. I wonder if it is free. I highly recommend you to visit this famous restaurant.

Nunoya Taibei" is the head family of Sarashina. The specialty, Gozensoba, is a beautiful, clear white buckwheat noodle made only from the core of the buckwheat, which was presented to the ladies' chambers during the Edo period (1603-1867). The edge of the buckwheat noodle is so sharp that you should take a bite of it without adding anything else to it. The fact that you can blend two kinds of soup, spicy and sweet, to your liking is the reason why this soba keeps customers coming back. The restaurant has been in business for more than 200 years. Now, they have a summer special, Kurumi-Dama-mo (salty soup with walnuts). The walnut sauce is loosely spread with the sauce, not too heavy and delicious. It is the best walnut sauce I have ever had. This is a restaurant where you can be happy with luxurious Soba and elegant space.

As a buckwheat noodle lover, I wanted to visit this buckwheat noodle restaurant! Vegetable tempura soba I had a handsome soba noodles! It is a thick and firm buckwheat noodle! There are two types of soba sauce, ama-jiru and kara-jiru, and they are delicious even when mixed together. The tempura was also very satisfying! I would like to try other kinds of soba noodles.

Soba noodle restaurant to take a break @ Azabujuban Nagasaka Sarashina Nunoya Taibei. This place is famous for Gozen Soba, which is characterized by its pure white color, but I definitely prefer Soba Manju (buckwheat bun). The buns are made of buckwheat flour and sweet red bean paste kneaded with wasanbon (Japanese sweet bean paste) 🤤. The soft and fluffy texture is irresistible 😆👍💕💕💕 It goes well with strong green tea 🍵. For Tokyo souvenirs: ☺️
