Maiko Meshi is a tempura restaurant located on the first floor of the Gion First Building on Shijo Street in Kyoto City. The bite-sized, easy-to-eat tempura makes it easy to eat as many as you like. The plump toriten (chicken tempura) is superb. You can enjoy the elegant taste of the three kinds of salt, sweet sauce, ponzu (Japanese citrus juice), and other dipping sauces.

A rice restaurant in Arashiyama and Gion, Kyoto 🍽.
(This is not a cafe, but it looks and tastes so good that I'm updating it here: ❣️) I've always wanted to eat here when I go to Kyoto.
The Arashiyama branch was fully booked so I took a chance and tried the Gion branch and it was open 🥺✨.
Reservations are a must 🥺☺️ The lunch set included appetizer, main dish (tempura in the picture), rice dish and dessert for 2700 yen 😃💡.
You will be given a description of the appetizers and tempura so you can taste them while looking at them 👌👌.
The rice dish was tai meshi 🐟.
Everything was delicious and I'm really glad I went to this restaurant 🙏✨.

I had found this tempura restaurant on Instagram and was curious about it. Since I was a tourist, I made a reservation in advance. I had the seasonal mixed tempura set, which was overwhelming from the outside. It was a shame to eat them all in bite-sized pieces, but they were so delicious and crispy even when cold.
