Enjoy tea porridge with a view of the courtyard in the tatami room of a machiya built in the Edo period.

Chabo Wonwon is located in a corner of Naramachi, where you can enjoy Nara's traditional tea porridge and sweet dishes. Especially popular is the "Cha-gruel Gozen (tea porridge set)" for 1,650 yen, which includes tea porridge with a choice of hojicha or azukicha, pickles and tsukudani, traditional noribetsu soup, and the "taste of Nara" of warabi rice cake and Yamato-cha (Japanese green tea). The nostalgic atmosphere makes it a wonderful, quiet and heartwarming place with many repeat customers.

The staff at the shop were friendly, and it was very nice. Sitting by the window, I could see the garden well, which was also great. I ate the tea porridge with various pickles, and I was able to eat it quickly without getting tired of it.

The warm tea porridge was delicious. One point, the tea that was served with the dessert halfway through would have been better if it had been served hot at the end when eating the dessert.
