A Retro Showa-style Retreat to Enjoy Nara Local Sake and Kushi Katsu

Just a 5-minute walk from the west exit of JR Nara Station, this izakaya has been loved for 46 years in a warm interior reminiscent of a Showa-era home. The freshly fried, crispy kushi katsu and tonkatsu have a light aftertaste that pairs exquisitely with fragrant umeshu and seasonal Nara sake. It's a place where even beginners can enjoy themselves easily. During the day, they also serve dishes like katsudon, making it a cozy spot where regulars gather.

It is a place that is easy to walk to from the station, where you can spend your time comfortably. The small shop has a warm atmosphere that feels local. A wide variety of sake from Nara is available, and the staff will share the points of flavor with you. The plum wine has a pleasant aroma and is easy to drink. The kushi-katsu is freshly fried, light and crispy, and the dashimaki (rolled omelette) and agedashi tofu are also satisfying with a rich dashi flavor. During the day, you can enjoy tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) and katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl), and it's fun to use different sauces.
