Motsunabe Kamehachi Yamashina is a restaurant where you can enjoy heartwarming motsunabe in a retro Showa atmosphere. The white motsunabe is particularly popular and can be enjoyed alongside a variety of side dishes. The attentive service from the staff adds to the comfort, making it a great place to relax and unwind.
The restaurant has a sunken kotatsu-style tatami room and counter seating. The welcome drink in a Ryukyu glass was lovely. Courses and all-you-can-drink are offered, and the salads were plentiful and delicious with seaweed. The red potato croquettes were also sweet and delicious, and the bitter melon stir-fry is highly recommended. The only disappointment is that the course did not include Orion beer.
We stopped by near our hotel and were pleased with our experience in terms of customer service, atmosphere, and food. Are all izakayas in Kyoto wonderful? I will fully enjoy my trip to Kyoto tomorrow. Thank you very much.
Enjoy creative cuisine and wine pairings in a stylish atmosphere

The meticulously prepared dishes are not only visually stunning but also offer wonderful flavors. Notably, the bistro style allows you to savor Spanish and French cuisine in a casual manner. Come and enjoy a relaxing moment that will help you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I have a favorite motsu-nabe restaurant in Yamashina, and on this day I heard about a new one, so I came here. It is located near Drug Utaka in Yamashina Sanjo, about a 10-minute walk from JR Yamashina Station. It has just recently opened, and both the outside and inside of the restaurant are clean and neat. Kushikatsu restaurants have a downtown image, but this one has a very stylish atmosphere. When I opened the entrance, I was greeted cheerfully by the waitress.
A specialty shop for creative Japanese-style pasta in a traditional townhouse setting
Housed in a charmingly renovated early Showa-era townhouse, this specialty shop offers a delightful selection of creative Japanese-style pasta and sweets. With 21 diverse pasta options ranging from tomato and cream sauces to those incorporating Japanese ingredients, you can enjoy them casually with chopsticks and a ladle. The homemade Japanese sweets, particularly 'warabi mochi' and 'zenzai,' are especially popular. You can also spend a relaxing time overlooking the small garden, making it an exceptionally welcoming specialty shop.
The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and kind! The meat was also very delicious!!! I went for a meal during my trip and would love to go again if I have the chance ( ^ω^ )
Hallelujah is an izakaya boasting skewers and oden, infused with the nostalgic atmosphere of the Showa era. The warm ambiance is inviting. The highlights of the restaurant are the diverse selection of skewers and the carefully crafted oden, a specialty from its origins as an oden shop. With a lively atmosphere, there are also ample all-you-can-drink plans for beer and sake, making it a great place to eat, drink, and have fun.
Aburi Shibuya is an izakaya featuring self-grilled charcoal cooking, allowing guests to enjoy grilling fresh meats, seafood, and seasonal vegetables at their own pace. The cozy atmosphere is a major draw. The retro decor combined with the spacious town-house style creates a pleasant experience every time you visit.
Everything I ordered was delicious. There was a wide variety of sake available. I could order it in 90ml servings, but it was quite expensive, so I couldn't drink much.
A place to enjoy a variety of meat dishes in a stylish setting
NIKUBAR JIGORO is a stylish meat bar that offers unique and delicious meat dishes. The use of rock salt plates and accents of sea urchin highlight the flavors of the meat through creative cooking methods. The interior is a bit cramped, but thanks to the extensive menu and friendly staff, you can enjoy a delightful dining experience.
We enjoyed the delicious food, which is a fusion of Italian cuisine with a focus on charcoal-grilled dishes such as yakitori. The master was trained in Yakitori and Italian cuisine, and opened the restaurant because he believes that charcoal grilling brings out the true flavor of the ingredients. All of the dishes were delicious, especially the oyadori, which I personally found to be excellent. It was firm and juicy, and the more you chewed it, the more flavorful it became. There is a wide variety of yakitori, and I wanted to try all of them. I would definitely stop by again when I come to Yamashina Station.
The charm of Genghis Khan enjoyed with a diverse menu
Charcoal-Grilled Genghis Khan specialty store "Bengara" is a special place where you can savor the deliciousness of Hokkaido in Kyoto. You can choose from a wide variety of meats, and even those who are not fond of lamb can enjoy its mild flavor. The drink selection is also extensive, making it a perfect spot for dining with friends and family. It offers the kind of Genghis Khan experience that makes you want to visit again and again.
In a calm space, you can spend your time leisurely. The appetizer corner is filled with refreshing salads of shrimp and octopus, smoked salmon, and carpaccio, all of which are delicious. For the main course, I had the Omi beef roast beef bowl, which was moist and tender, leaving me satisfied. The Omi beef curry and the flavorful soup also left a lasting impression. The coffee machine allows for a preferred extraction, and there is a selection of herbal teas that pair well with the dishes. For dessert, I particularly love the pudding, which keeps me feeling happy until the very end.
This cozy establishment offers a variety of okonomiyaki and teppanyaki. In particular, the fluffy takoyaki, reputed to be the best in Kyoto, is exquisite and loved by many. The charm lies in being able to enjoy a beer with friends while freely choosing your favorite dishes.
