New things were often named with 'Denki' to attract people's attention. It is said that the name Denki Bran comes from combining 'Denki' with 'Bran' from brandy. Since it includes not only brandy but also other ingredients, it has become a trademark under the name 'Denki Bran' instead of simply using the name brandy. The cocktail named Denki Bran appeared at the Kamiya Bar in Asakusa, and during that time, Denki Bran has quietly observed the changes in Asakusa and the world. Hoppy is a refreshing beverage born on July 15, 1948, in Akasaka, Tokyo. A drink made by mixing shochu with this is also called Hoppy. Research and development began due to the trend of non-beer (non-alcoholic beer) in the late Taisho era, initiated by the founder, Hidetaka Ishiwata. The product name 'Hoppy' was chosen to mean 'real non-beer made with real hops,' and it was first released in the black markets of Shimbashi and Ikebukuro. It was accepted by people as a cheaper and quicker way to get drunk than beer, leading to explosive sales. For over 70 years since its release, Hoppy has always been close to the hearts of the Japanese people, growing alongside Japanese food culture, and is an essential beverage in the history of Japanese mixed drinks and alcohol culture.

During that era, many enjoyed shochu, which was affordable at the time, mixed with carbonated water or other mixers. The mixed drinks from that time have survived to this day. The long-selling mixed drink 'Bice Sour,' still enjoyed today, has a pink color that seems out of place in downtown! Originally developed from the concept of a shiso-flavored sour, Bice Sour primarily uses shiso extract and apple juice as its main ingredients. The vibrant pink color comes from the color leached from the shiso, and it is said that they do not use a lot of coloring agents to achieve this hue. The color of Bice is indeed a natural one.

All the izakayas in the downtown area never forgot this favor. Toyosu is a city that was reclaimed from the rubble of the Great Kanto Earthquake and has a deep connection to this disaster.
