Agu is a precious indigenous pig breed in Okinawa. Its history dates back to about 600 years ago when pigs from China were brought to Okinawa and island pigs that had been continuously bought in Okinawa were said to be the origin of 'Agu'. Agu has long supported Okinawa's food culture. However, after World War II, pig breeding improved, and 'Agu' drastically decreased, facing the threat of extinction. Feeling the crisis of losing the indigenous Agu in Okinawa, a backcrossing process was carried out over about 10 years to remove hybridization. As a result, Agu with traits similar to those before the war was restored.
Enjoy the original taste of Agu shabu-shabu, known for its tender meat texture, strong umami flavor, and good aroma.
We raise them with feed that combines our own unique turmeric, mugwort, chili pepper, and garlic in plant-based feed.
