The mausoleum of the 122nd Emperor Meiji (1852-1912). This site was once home to the main keep of Fushimi Castle, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Climbing the 230 stone steps offers a view of the Osaka and Nara areas. The greenery is beautiful in spring and summer, and you can enjoy the autumn leaves as well. Nearby are the mausoleum of Empress Shoken, the consort of Emperor Meiji, and Emperor Kanmu, who moved the capital to Heian. It is a hidden gem with few tourists, making it a great place to slowly experience history.
It has a unique Y-shaped design, and it is said to be named 'Fushimi Deai Bridge' because people walk from three directions and meet in the middle. Below the bridge is a branching point where the waterway splits into the 'Ujigawa tributary,' and a promenade has been developed along the river. It's perfect for a walk after a meal.
A boat inn known for the 'Teradaya Incident,' where Sakamoto Ryoma was attacked by government officials. The building of Minonoya was originally a kimono shop (now: Saito Sake Brewery), and there are stories that they rushed to help the injured from the Satsuma clan who were cut during the Teradaya Incident, using white fabric as bandages. The current building of Teradaya was destroyed during the Battle of Toba-Fushimi and was later rebuilt. In front of it, there is a canal that just opened in May 2023, along with a café where you can view Teradaya.
The boarding point is a 5-minute walk from Minomiyagawa. Fushimi, a port town with a history established by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, offers a leisurely ride down the canal of the Uji River tributary while enjoying the seasonal scenery. You can enjoy about 50 minutes in the 'Fushimi Horikawa's Row of Willows,' which has also been selected as one of 'Kyoto City's 100 Natural Selections.' Be sure to make a reservation for the boat ride before or after your meal.

Fushimi was once known as a place of fine water, referred to as 'Fushimizu'. The sake 'Eikun' from Saito Brewery is crafted using this high-quality water without reservation. It has expanded not only throughout Japan but also overseas, receiving high praise in various regions. At our establishment, due to our connection to the building that was once the private residence of the president of Saito Brewery, we offer various brands of 'Eikun' and incorporate its essence into our dishes, including sauces and desserts made with sake lees.
Continuing to produce high-quality matcha and Uji tea in Fushimi, they are also actively developing new products to allow a wider range of customers to enjoy their tea. At Minomiyabi, we offer Kaneshichi Hatakeyama Tea's products in desserts and after-meal beverages.
Marutoshi Coffee, a coffee shop in Fushimi, Kyoto, has been making coffee for over 40 years. Miyamoto Farm, located in Mukōjima, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, practices environmentally friendly agriculture that harnesses the power of nature to cultivate rice and vegetables. At Mizuno Miyabi, we receive seasonal vegetables from Miyamoto Farm. The freshly harvested vegetables can be enjoyed as part of dishes such as appetizers. The availability of rare vegetables that are not commonly seen is made possible by sourcing from Miyamoto Farm, which cultivates a wide variety of produce.
To learn the authentic flavors and techniques, I trained at a restaurant in Lyon, and after returning to Japan, I further honed my skills at a French restaurant in Kyoto. In the first year of the Reiwa era, I became the head chef at the opening of 'Mizuno Miyabi KYOTOFUSHIMI'. I present dishes that maximize the unique qualities of the wonderful ingredients gathered through the connections in Fushimi, Kyoto, while capturing the intentions of the producers.
