Kamameshi Megutowa is a serene restaurant with a Japanese atmosphere, located near the tram station in front of the tram depot. The extensive selection of kamameshi is carefully prepared after the order is placed, featuring a rich flavor enhanced by shiitake mushroom dashi. Additionally, the restaurant offers a variety of obanzai, which pairs well with alcohol, creating a luxurious experience even during the daytime.

The calm interior of the restaurant features a counter and tables, making it a comfortable place to be. There is a wide variety of kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot), and the sets of obanzai (traditional side dishes) and gozen (meal sets) make choosing enjoyable. It takes a little time for the rice to cook, but the fluffy rice is infused with flavor, making the wait worthwhile. The kamameshi is served with condiments, seaweed, miso soup, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), and pickles, providing a satisfying meal. The ingredients, including the Oborozuki rice from Iwamizawa, thick shiitake mushrooms, scallops, chicken, and sanma (Pacific saury), are all delicious, and it's wonderful to pour some dashi (broth) over it halfway through to enjoy a lighter taste. The chawanmushi is topped with sauce and has good ingredients, and the portion of kamameshi is enough to enjoy several small bowls, leaving me very satisfied.
