Cozy and Homely Creative Izakaya

Located just a few minutes' walk from JR Ishiyama Station, Shokudo Tamaya is an izakaya where you can enjoy creative dishes in a homely atmosphere. It is well-known for its fresh Omi beef sashimi and charcoal-grilled yakitori, with the whole shrimp marinated yukhoe being particularly popular for its rich flavor. The restaurant also offers a rare selection of sake from Shiga Prefecture, which can be enjoyed alongside the dishes.

This shop, located just a short walk from Ishiyama Station, has a cozy atmosphere that is very calming. You can see the yakitori sizzling on the grill over the counter, and the savory aroma is exciting. When I had the half serving of the fresh Omi beef heart sashimi and grilled, I could clearly taste the freshness and rich flavor. The shrimp yukhoe is deliciously coated in a rich sauce that makes it hard to stop eating. The potato salad topped with garlic baguette and a soft-boiled egg also pairs surprisingly well, making you want to order more. The selection of sake is extensive, adding to the fun of choosing combinations with the dishes, and I was able to enjoy a happy mood until the end.
