Descending the stairs leading to the basement, we found ourselves in a relaxed bar space with a low ceiling, which lifted our spirits. The white Kaku highball to start with had a perfect combination of refreshing carbonation and the richness of whiskey. The Spam onigiri, a specialty of the restaurant, was huge, and the fluffy rice matched perfectly with the thick, browned Spam. The crispy pickled lotus root gives it a refreshing aftertaste. The Cheese Keema Curry & Egg Toast made with Danish bread was an impressive combination of buttery, crispy texture, spicy curry, and the mildness of the half-boiled egg. Finishing with a cup of aromatic black coffee, I was left with a pleasant aftertaste.
