The first domestically produced whaling mother ship in Japan, 'Nisshin Maru', completed 36 years of operation. The restaurant 'Shimonoseki Whaling House Nisshin Maru' was born from the desire to spread the tradition of whaling in Shimonoseki and the culture of whale cuisine. The capture of whales and the preparation of small fish through whale cuisine help maintain the balance of the marine ecosystem and contribute to the SDGs.
