The proprietor, Mr. Masuda, was born in Kawakami Village, Nara, and was raised in his family's home business, which had dealt in dried fish and catering since his grandfather's generation. He was inspired to become a chef by his admiration for the world of chefs in the TV drama "Zenryaku Ofukuro-sama." He served as head chef at a kappo restaurant in Osaka's Minami district, and later opened his own restaurant, "Masuda." Signature items that reflect Masuda's culinary philosophy, such as the "Masuda-style hassun," are now beloved by many customers.
